My Style

"Our pictures were exactly as we wanted, so natural and gorgeous. Would highly highly recommend!! " Megan + Tane

The cake will get eaten, the decorations put away but the photographs will last forever so it's important that you choose the right photographer for you! If you choose me as your photographer, I promise to capture stylish and romantic wedding photos that will stand the test of time. Taking the actual shot is just a small part of my role as your photographer, in order to get the best out of my couples, I take pride in making them feel at ease, comfortable enough to laugh, have fun and let their guard down.

My shooting style is somewhere in the middle of fly on the wall and more direct! I love to capture natural moments but I'm also not afraid to jump in and give some guidance when it's needed!

As to my bespoke editing style (That I like to call 'Rich Luxe'), this has taken over 6 years to perfect! Drawing on the authentic colours of your surroundings, then elevating them to be just as vibrant and magical as they are in your memories. Rest assured I never stray far from the 'truth of the colour'.

My Photography Journey

It all started with my mum, she would give me disposable cameras to play with and I would run around the garden taking as many photos as I could until the film ran out. I was then given my first digital camera at 8 when we moved to South Africa and it never left my side, I still have the photo albums from that time and they’re just so special to me!

As I grew up I knew that photography was my passion and made sure to attend a sixth form that had an incredible photography department, completely focused on old school film photography. This gave me such a strong grounding in the subject and the knowledge I gained there was unparalleled to any other education I’ve had and yes that’s including my photography degree!

What about weddings? Well I actually shot my first wedding when I was 16 and it was love at first sight, there was no going back. I was given the opportunity to assist a local wedding photographer and for the next two summers I continued to work and photograph weddings with him. Then in 2018 I decided it was time to go it on my own (I was still studying for my BA Photography degree at the time) and in September that year I officially launched ‘Kristen Kate Photography’. It’s been a long road since then but I am proud to say it was and is a success! I found something that I love and now get to share that joy with all my wonderful couples.

My Personal Life

As a child I had the immense privilege of traveling the world due to my dads work! This varied up bringing opened my world to all sorts of different cultures and experiences, because of this I am always seeking to know more about people and the world.

I absolutely love it when I find things in common with my couples so without further ado here is a few things I love most in life:

  • Only the cheesiest Rom Coms
  • Staring at the stars
  • Baking
  • Dancing
  • Singing (very poorly) in my car
  • Sunsets
  • A clear sunny sky
  • Disney, disney, disney!

Testimonials

Courtney + Orjan

“Kristen photographed our wedding in early September at Balcombe Place.

We honestly cannot praise her enough - how she managed the crowd, how she interacted and how she made us all feel. Kristen wasn't just our photographer, she helped coordinate us and intervened when we weren't brave enough to ask for a couple things with our band.

As a couple, my husband and I are quite awkward in front of cameras, but she completely put us at ease and pepped us up.”
